Ants continue to be a model of choice for the study of questions on the evolution of social systems because of their complex and varied forms of eusociality. Their diversity and prominence in ecosystems also has made them important components in the study of biodiversity and conservation. Recently, ant colonies are also studied and modeled for their relevance in machine learning, complex interactive networks, stochasticity of encounter and interaction networks, parallel computing, and other computing fields.

About

Ant Simulator is a scientific program that can be used for learning or visualizing various ant behaviors. It aims: to be an avenue for research, to educate and to be interactive. It is primarily targeted towards researchers, students and children aged 8-12.

Ants

Ants have existed since 110 to 130 million years ago after evolving from their ancestors. There are an estimated 22,000 classified species of ants currently in the world. Ants form colonies that range in various sizes.

Latest Version

Research

Ant Simulator is to be a simulation modelling various behaviors of the ants. As such, a lot of research has to be done with regards to the foraging of food, how they battle, and how they react to weather conditions, along with other situations.

Why Ants?

Individual ants by themselves are simple insects with limited memory and capable of performing simple actions. However, these simple actions can combine and result in complex collective behavior exhibited by the ant colony as a whole.

Update 1

Implemented and improved User Interface.

Update 2

Implementing new behaviors for the Ants!

Update 3

More bug fixes completed, slowly perfecting the simulator!

Work has been completed on the simulator! The program is now feature-complete and available for download on the Product page!
